We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, team-oriented, and quality focused professional or student to assume the temporary role of Web Specialist!



The Information Services Web Specialist performs a variety of computer-related duties under the direction of the Salem Hospital Webmaster.  The assigned duties will become more complex as the Specialist progresses through the program. 

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with web server network troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with network wiring and associated equipment installation.
  • Assist with Intranet site management, design and development of new sites and applications, extending functionality of database-driven pages, resolving technical issues, and regular site testing and maintenance.
  • Assist with administration and development of user interfaces, management of web infrastructure and coordination of technical development, taking into consideration effective user-interface design, user-centered information architecture, and usability issues.
  • Assist with the detail design, development & implementation phases of the development lifecycle for web-based database applications, including testing.

Essential functions:

  • Must be capable of medium physical activity.

Special Skills, Knowledge or Ability:

  • Must be able to operate the computer systems and peripheral equipment.
  • Experience with server administration using UNIX and Windows.
  • Must be able to perform routine trouble-shooting duties related to maintaining the Data.
  • Processing systems in a smooth and normal operating mode.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal relation skills in dealing with technical staff, as well as non-technical end users.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business systems, or a closely related field, OR successfully completed a minimum of two (2) years of a four-year accredited, Bachelor's Degree program, with a major as listed above, OR successfully completed an Associate's Degree in a similarly related field.
  • Must possess working knowledge of computer systems, hardware and software.
  • Must be available to work occasional swing shifts for training and educational purposes.
  • PHP Programming skills necessary.
  • Must have experience with the following programs & scripting tools: HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, SQL, DreamWeaver, AJAX.
  • Should be familiar with one of the following programming languages: C, Java, Visual Basic, VBA, Java, Active X.
  • Must have experience with network and microcomputer administration.


Additional Information:

This position is a temporary appointment which will last 3 months from date of hire, with the possibility of extension. Temporary appointments are not eligible for benefits and have a designated maximum length of service.
