As a Peri-Operative Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with Salem Health, you will leverage a depth of clinical experience to lead your practice while reporting to and collaborating with a Nursing Director.

We’re looking for someone with expertise in Peri-Operative Care who can:
• Function as a clinical expert in the diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the delivery of evidence-based nursing interventions (ANA, 2004).
• Serve as an expert in executing delegated medical regimens associated with the diagnosis and treatment of disease for a specialty population.
• Function independently to provide theory and evidence-based care to patients/clients in their attainment of health goals.
• Collaborate with other nurses to advance their nursing practices and improve outcomes, and provide clinical expertise to effect system-wide changes to improve programs of care.
• Specialize in a delimited area of practice with evidence-based competencies associated with that specialty. Specialty areas are evolving as the science evolves. Typically, the specialty can be identified in terms of: a) a population; b) type of problem; c) setting; d) type of care; and e) disease/pathology/medical.

• Currently licensed to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon, or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to date of hire.
• Minimum of four (4) years of peri-operative clinical experience.
• Minimum Master’s degree in Nursing with clinical specialty. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing desirable.
• Must be able to meet qualifications for recognition as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oregon by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN).
• Preference may be given to candidates possessing national certification in nursing specialty and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

The successful incumbent must: possess advanced knowledge of the science of nursing with a specialty focus and apply that knowledge to nursing assessments, diagnoses, and interventions, and the design of innovations; possess an ability to work and communicate effectively with others; and commensurate with education preparation and area of assignment, demonstrate knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet the specific needs of neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patients.


Additional Information:
This position requires manual dexterity adequate to perform skills and procedures to assure safe patient care, adequate visual and hearing ability to read and perform nursing procedures safely, and the ability to safely lift, pull, and turn a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted and over 100 pounds with assistance: bend, stretch, and reach to accomplish duties.
